James Gorry’s story begins in Dublin, where an early life marked by challenge helped forge the resilience and determination that would define his career. At just 21, he arrived in Australia with only a few dollars in his pocket and began working in automotive sales. His natural ability to connect with people and understand their needs quickly set him apart. Recognising the opportunities emerging in the rapidly growing technology sector in the 1990s, he transitioned into IT, where his talent for building relationships and creating value for customers saw him rise to the highest levels of enterprise sales.
James eventually joined IBM, where he played a leading role in its software and Lotus Notes businesses, most notably during the formative years of corporate social computing, helping organisations rethink the collaboration, knowledge sharing, and digital work we take for granted today. He later moved into the world of pre AI-powered med-tech, where he helped bring innovative technologies to market that improved safety and human performance. Today, he leads Gorry Advisory, helping organisations navigate the opportunities and challenges of the AI era.
